Tracie Edwards

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, our beloved Tracie Edwards (Ms. T), 53, was called to enter into eternal rest. She was surrounded by her loving family. Tracie was born February 19, 1972 in Portsmouth, VA. She was educated in the Portsmouth Public School System and graduated from Cradock High School. She also attended Tidewater Community College. Tracie dedicated her talents and energy to Hampton Roads Transit System (HRT) where she served with pride and commitment. Tracie was preceded in death by her father, Maurice J. Edwards; her stepfather, Ernest Wooten; and her sister, Sheila E.Bullock. Throughout her life, Tracie embodied faith, kindness, and a devotion to her family. Her heart was generous, her laughter contagious, and her love for others unwavering. A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, she cheered for her team with passion and excitement. She truly loved her Dallas Cowboys! Tracie also loved fishing almost as much as she loved her Cowboys.She was definitely a pro at fishing. She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Vivian Wooten who loved her dearly, her loving and devoted hubby, Hodari Evans (Hawk); her loving children: TaShea S. Scott (Antoine), Junius Edwards, and Bryan Phillips; and her adored grandchildren: Taniya Battle, Stanley Murry, Tashean Murry, Syncere Murry, Ah'Nyla Murry, Mariya Edwards, Alayna Edwards, Tristan Edwards, Jason Edwards, and Noelle Dawson and her precious great-grandchild, Kazai Battle. She is also survived by her siblings: Bobby R. Edwards, Maurice L. Edwards (Niecy), Claudette E. Flyth (Romeo), Eric P. Howell (Annette), Pamela L. Brown (Keith), and Terrie R. Faison (Edmond); her adopted brothers, Enoch Elliot and Norman Wooten; Elton Harrell; sister in-law, Sharita Johnson, and brother-in-law Arkil Evans; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws and close friends. Tracie also shared special bonds with her "Golden Girls," her mother-in-law, Ma Penny, Aunt Debra and Zina Britt. Tracie will be remembered for her radiant smile, fearlessness witty comebacks, and all around resourcefulness. She was loving, compassionate, empathetic to those in need, leaving others inspired and smiling in her presence. Though she has departed from this earthly life, her beautiful light continues to shine through her mother, siblings, children, grandchildren, hubby, and all who were blessed to know and love her. Her memory will live forever in our hearts.
