Rebbie Warren

Rebbie T. Warren was born September 15, 1934 to the late Roy and Freddie Anna Turner of Courtland Virginia. She departed this life and entered eternal joy on Thursday December 3, 2020 with her family gathered around her in her daughter’s home in Chesapeake, VA. Ms. Rebbie grew up in Courtland, Virginia and was educated in the Southampton County Public Schools. Soon after school she moved to Portsmouth, Virginia with the love of her life, Samuel W. Warren, and their twin girls. Rebbie worked her way up the ladder at Portsmouth General Hospital, starting her career as a nurse’s aide and eventually she became the supervisor of the EKG/EEG Stress testing department. Mom loved her job and always took pride in the service rendered by her department. Mom retired from Portsmouth General hospital when it closed in 1999 after many years of service. Ms. Rebbie was a faithful member of the Beulah Land AME Zion church where she served faithfully on many boards and auxiliary organizations. She was the president of the Steward board, served as a deaconess, and was a staunch member of the hospitality committee. To attend a second service at Beulah Land was to experience the culinary delights of Ms. Rebbie and the ladies of the church. Mom loved all her pastors (too many to name) and thought of them and their wives as extended members of her family. Granny was the backbone and foundation of the Samuel Warren Sr. family. To cherish her memory Granny leaves her husband of 64 years, Samuel W. Warren Sr., three children, Shelia W. Williams, Lelia W. Richardson and Samuel W. Warren Jr. (Andrea), Four grandchildren, Keisha Richardson Warren, Damion L. Dickens (Nicole), Tanisha L. Williams, and Adrienne L. Warren, 9 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, and three great granddogs, Roxy, Peaches, and Miko. Ms. Rebbie is also survived by four sisters, Bessie Murphy, Santa Barbara California, Dorothy Williams, Bridgeport, Connecticut, Jean Butler, Bloomfield Connecticut, and Evonnia Manson, Hartford Connecticut. She leaves one brother, David Turner, Windsor Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Cathalee Johnson, Clifton Turner, Roy Turner, Shirley Williams, and Ida Mckenny.
