Minister Arlene A. Elliott

Arlene Askew Elliott at the age 78, God dispatched his heavenly angels to Maryview Medical Center ICU in Portsmouth, VA on Wednesday August 28, 2024. A native of Portsmouth, VA she was born to the late Robert Lee Askew Sr. and Lena Faison Askew on December 1, 1945 in Ahoskie, NC. She joined New Baptist Church of Taylorville under the leadership of Rev. T. M. Steele in her early life. She worked at Piece Goods Fabric Store where she meant a host of friends. She was a very creative and talented seamstress. Arlene loved to sing and was the president of the Angelic Voices. Later she went to Minister school at Bishop Russell Church of God In Christ in Norfolk, VA where she received her license to minister the word of God. In March 2007 she joined Tabernacle Church under Bishop Marcus D. Brown. Arlene was a loving and caring woman of God. She was the minister, prayer warrior, listener, mother and grandmother to many. And during the week from 12:30 noon to 2:00 pm Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful was her time. You have fought a good fight, you have finished the course, you kept the faith, sang his songs of praise, talk the talk of God’s goodness and now it is time for you to dance and sing in the presence of His glory. Arlene is preceded in death by her parents Robert Lee Askew Sr. and Lena Faison Askew, husband Milton Lee Elliott Sr., brothers Robert Lee Askew Jr., Wallace Askew, Gregory Askew and sisters Cheryl Askew, Doris Christian, Robin Taylor, Patricia Askew. She leaves to cherish her memory children Milton L. Elliott Jr. (Juanita), Cheryl B. Elliott (Mike) and Latressa Norman (Tilmon) and bonus children Crystal Hayes (Steve) and Bonita Ellis. Sisters Elise Thompson (Ase), Valerie Lowry (Sam), Sheila Askew and Hattie Williams (Leslie). Grandchildren Ashley Askew, Joshua Elliott, D’Quane Norman, JuQuan Norman (Keyanna), SeLena Norman, Gavin Gardner (Cornesha) and many bonus grandchildren. Great grandchildren Zyon Elliott, Lyfe Elliott and many bonus great-grandchildren. Godson Rev. Hugo Morrison (Tanika) and goddaughters Crystal Howell and Patricia Key. Her very good friend Maranda Accoo and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.
