Linda C. Hagins

Ms. Linda C. Hagins went on to be with Our Lord, on Thursday, July 13th, 2023 in Norfolk, VA. Ms. Linda was born July 24, 1951 in Hampton, VA to the late Bishop George O. Hicks Sr. and Ernese E. Hicks and was the eldest of 5 children. Linda grew up in the Cavalier Manor area of Portsmouth and attended Portsmouth Public Schools. She later went on to continue studies in Nursing at Tidewater Community College where she received Certification as a Nursing Assistant. Linda began employment at the age of 16 as a food service worker at Golden Skillet. After awhile, she began working in private nursing fulltime, and began her long-term career with Brent-Lox Nursing Home in Chesapeake, VA where she stayed employed for over 28 years before retiring. There she was loved by both her patients and co-workers. She was always known to be the longest working employee of the company. She served as Church Clerk at St. Luke Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, founded and led by her father Bishop George O. Hicks Sr. and brother Pastor George O. Hicks Jr. After the closing of the church in 2011, Linda began her journey searching for a new church home. She eventually found Anchor Baptist Church, led by Pastor Jeremiah Ketels where she served as a faithful for member for 3 years. Linda had a huge impact in her beloved neighborhood of Cradock where she called home for over 25 years. Her love could be felt through and through. She was well-known to her family, friends and her community as “Mom”, “Grandma”, “Auntie”, “Mama Linda”, and “Ms. Linda”. Ms. Linda Hagins had the most love of all for her family and leaves behind her true love and lifetime partner, William “Doug” Johnson, four children; Vandorea Rouse, Renea “Sheree” Cooper-Edwards (Jason), Monica Hicks, and Ronald Hagins Jr. (Karen), four granddaughters; Shakirah, Sherita, Sha’Toya, and Ja’Nea, five great grandchildren; Maliah, Dylan, Ty’re, Jason, and Phoenixx Sky, three brothers; George Hicks Jr. (Diane), Lafayette Hicks, Ricky Hicks (Linda, her beloved sister; Denise Hicks, as well as, a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and special friends. She is predeceased by her mother and father, her grandson Jason, and extended family.
