James Allen Abraham

On August 12, 1954 God smiled and James A. (Jimmy) Abraham was born to the late Boston and Isabell Abraham in Wilmington, NC. Jimmy attended New Hanover County Public Schools, graduating from New Hanover High in 1972. He was employed at General Electric for a number of years and later joined the US Army in 1979. He retired as a Staff Sargent in 2008. After retiring from the military, he worked at the International Paper company in Rieglewood, NC for ten years. Abe met Ms. Sylvia Davis, fell in love and was married on October 7, 1979. They were blessed from this union with two beautiful children (Marcus and Stacey) and two beautiful children from a previous marriage (Andre and Karen). Jimmy was reared in his spiritual walk at his home church, Macedonia F.B.H. Church, Wilmington, North Carolina. After his union, he later attended his wife’s church, Warner Temple A.M.E., Wilmington, North Carolina, where he was baptized. In 2006, he relocated to Virginia. While in Virginia he attended and worshipped at Redeemed Christian Fellowship with his brother, Bishop D. Bartez Abraham as well as Tri City Worship Center, Portsmouth, VA with his sister, Linda McElroy. James was preceded in death by his parents, Boston and Isabell Abraham; oldest brother, Boston Abraham Jr. and nephew, Purnell D. Abraham. Leaving to celebrate his life is: his wife of 37 years, Sylvia, Wilmington, NC; three sons, Andre Abraham (Leslie), West Linn, Oregon, Marcus Abraham (Ashley), currently stationed in Afghanistan; two daughters, Karen Abraham, Charlotte, NC and Stacey Abraham, Wilmington, NC; four brothers, Bishop D. Bartez Abraham (Apostle Alethia), Virginia Beach, VA, Elder Ronnie Abraham (Lorraine), Ashville, NC, Alvin Abraham (Beverly), Portsmouth, VA and John Joseph, Hampton, VA; three sisters, Lolethea Abraham, Norfolk, VA, Linda McElroy, Portsmouth, VA and Dr. Connie Armstrong, Burgaw, NC; mother and father-in-law, James and Dorothy Monroe, Wilmington, NC; a brother-in-law, Athanison Monroe (Leisha), California; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Hooper (Darnell), Bridgeport, CT and Angelina Bernard (Allen), North Carolina; a uncle, William Joseph (Christine), Miami, FL; a auntie, Rosa Lee Godwin, Columbia, SC; eleven grandchildren, one great grand and a host of other relatives, friends and acquaintances.
