Gregory A. Pierce, II

Gregory A. Pierce II, aka "Tigger," 39, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away on January 10, 2023, after Liver Cancer complications. Gregory was born on May 5, 1983, to Gregory A. and Marlyn J. Pierce in Houston, Texas. After Gregory graduated from Deep Creek high school in 2002, where he was part of the Deep Creek Hornets football team as a Running Back. Early on he began his football journey through Deep Creek parks and Recreations as a Wide Receiver. He joined the United States Air Force, where he earned awards for, Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Basic Services Badge. After serving in the military, Gregory attended Bryant & Stratton College, earning an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice. After completing his internship, he later worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor intern at New Life SA Agency. He mirrored his father's technology skills with his affinity for technology which led him to obtain a position with IBEX as an Apple Product Technician until the era of COVID-19. His talents and love for music allowed him to become the Road Manager for a local R&B singing group. The group found themselves on the road with music events as far as New York. Gregory's skills led him to successfully negotiate the group signing with a recording company before completing their first CD on Day 26. Alan Jenkins and Danny B Live are highly talented artists. Everyone knew Gregory as an avid and talented Photographer, "Allen Pier," with a big heart and a giving nature. His work held some regular modeling assignments. He will be missed, especially by his parents, Gregory and Marlyn, sister- Jacquile'ene, nephew -Sean, and niece- Amiya, with whom he spent countless hours talking, playing cards and video games, and numerous other activities. He was a huge fan of all Pittsburgh sports - especially the Steelers. Gregory was the proud owner of a four-year-old blue nose Pitbull named "Baby Gurl," whom he loved and spent much time training and caring for. He was also a huge fan of the Pierce family reunions, a time he was grateful to connect with his cousins and their families. Gregory thoroughly enjoyed what he did and those he met in his days. He made the time to always show up for everyone who reached out, providing caring, trustworthy, and sound counsel. He wanted to brighten lives in his days, and he indeed did. Peace and caring permeated him, and kindness felt like it was his middle name. Anyone who knew Gregory knew that he was the most loving sibling and son a family could ask for. He shared this love with his community of friends, professionals, and acquaintances across the globe. Gregory endured two liver transplants in the last twelve years that manifested other medical conditions. Despite his challenges, music continued to be a lifelong comfort. He was an eternal optimist, always looking to make the "big comeback" and speak on his 12-year experiences of surviving two liver transplants. Predeceased by Grandmother Marlyn B. Brown, Grandparents Willie & Carolyn Johnson, Great Grandmother Ida Mae Ruth, Great Grandparents George & Bernice Mitchell, and Uncle Reginald Pierce. He is survived by his parents, Marlyn & Gregory; Sister- Jackie Scott, Grandmother Gwendolyn Pierce, Grandfather Kenneth Brown; Uncles Robert Jefferson (Chesapeake), Kevin Brooks (Pittsburgh), Anthony Pierce (Savannah); Cedric Pierce (Savannah), Kenny "Nod" Brown(Savannah), Willie Johnson, Jr. (Atlanta), Bud Blidge (Miami), Arkee Johnson(Miami). Aunts Eva Pierce (Mississippi); Jackie Sessom (Savannah), Rashida (Bryan) Jones (Miami), Cecilia Rudrow (Atlanta), Norvielia Treadwell (Atlanta); LaShawn Pierce (Savannah), Leslie Pierce (Savannah), Barbara Shepard (Savannah). He leaves behind a host of awesome cousins who will never forget him using the phrase in his youth, which is grimy. A host of adopted family members Aunt Teresa Norman, Aunt Sharon, and Patrice. His village also included great friends who have become family, Dr. Debbie Hunley-Stukes, Dr. Angela Barclift, Selecia Sellers, Fay & Kenny Davis, Dominique ( Anya), Nafeterie, Kim, Stephanie, Che’la, and Donte. Bottomless creek classmates Tyrone, Mann, Roy, Brandon, Reggie, and Shaytora.
