Edward L. Hooper, Jr.

Edward Louis Hooper Jr. passed peacefully from this life on May, 11th after a gradual decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his family the last days of his life. Edward Louis Hooper Jr. was born on March 11, 1952 in Nansemond County, VA. He was the son of the late Edward Louis Hooper Sr. and Mary Louise Watson-Hooper. "Jr." as he was affectionately called was primarily raised in the home of his cousins, the late James & Olsa Sykes. Jr. attended Crestwood High School until his passion for fixing cars lead him to become a mechanic. He was employed at Merchant Tires and Kramer Goodyear. Jr. also enjoyed drawing, singing and playing the bass guitar. He became a member of the Golden Trumpets playing the bass guitar for many years until he became ill. In 1986, Jr. dedicated his life to Christ. He was a member of Pentecostal Workers of Christ Temple, under the leadership of the late Bishop James L. Coppage. Later in life he became a member of Emmanuel True Holiness under the leadership of the late Bishop Carlton Ford where the anointing of Christ continued his spiritual enhancement flowing from the guitar. In 1983 Jr. joined Sandra Elizabeth Ellis in holy matrimony. Through this union Jr. was blessed with four step-children and fathered three additional children. Preceding him in death is Lottie Brown (Aunt), Stephanie Watson (Sister), Robert Watson (Uncle), Devontae' Artist (Grandson). Leaving to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Sandra Hooper, seven children, Timothy Odom, Jeannette Griffin (Larry), Linda Davis (Elijah), Christopher Ellis (Eulonda), Tonya Gibbs (Antonio) all of Portsmouth, VA, Terri White (Joshua), Chesapeake, VA, and Edward Hooper III, Pensacola, FL, One, sister Tammy Anita Watson, Elizabeth City, NC, One, Aunt Eliza H. Reid, Burlington, NC, One, niece Tiesha Watson, Winterville, NC, two nephews, Marod Watson & Jamel Mullen, Elizabeth City, NC, fourteen grandchildren: Shanel, Felicea, Sheniqua, Darryl, Eulonza, Elijah, Donya', Alesia, Zynayla, Reginald, Arihanna, King, Amaya, Edward IV, four great grandchildren: Daniyah, Destiny, Devontae, Zariyah and a host of other relatives and friends who will truly miss him.
