Dorothy Elizabeth Bullock

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Dorothy Elizabeth Jones Bullock was called home to be with the Lord. She was born in Norfolk County, Virginia on August 6, 1927 to the late Linwood and Pettraneo Anderson Jones. She was the eldest of fourteen children and lived to be 92 years old. She was married to the late Rev. Jewrenne Bullock for over 35 years. Dorothy loved the Lord and always believed in Him. She would always say, "keep things together': "no fussing ... no fighting ... and everything will be alright:' Dorothy was always the kind of person that would do whatever she could for her family. She loved them dearly. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church West Norfolk for over 70 years. She was an active member of the Senior Choir, Women's Ministry and Senior Missionary. Dorothy loved to sing and play the piano. She was also a member of Sharon Missionary, Golden Girls of the Church, Domestic Arts and Savings Club, the United Order of Tents and past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. Dorothy was not an idle person. She was a caretaker, a nurse and a cafeteria worker for over 30 years at Churchland High and Elementary School in Portsmouth, VA. She was predeceased by three sisters, Ida M. Jones, Marion V. Bazemore and Irene Gainey; three brothers, Linwood, Tyrees, and Elmore Jones; three grandchildren, Charles, Andre and Walter Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Delphine S. Simmons, Norfolk, VA; a son, Charles L. Brown, Capron, VA; five grandchildren, Tonza L. Simmons, Antonio L. Simmons (LaSch on) , Tosha S. Tucker, Kiba Brown and Darryl Brown; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; four brothers, Rious, Arthur (Bettie), Aaron (Elnore) all of Portsmouth, VA and Rev. Leroy Jones, Suffolk, VA; three sisters, Carolyn Drew, Portsmouth, VA, Julia Ellis, Chesapeake, VA and Cornelia (Rev. Floyd) Nedab, Portsmouth, VA; two sister-in-laws, Marion Jones and Eva Mae Jones; two special friends, Mrs. Edna T. Jones, Mrs. Missouri Shephard, both of Portsmouth, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
