Charles Henry Worrell

On Friday morning April 14, 2017 our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and dear friend slipped quietly away to his heavenly home. Charles Henry Worrell, affectionately known to many as “Tutti” was born on June 7, 1946 in Suffolk Virginia, to the late Wallace and the late Annie Marie Worrell. He had two brothers, the late Felton Worrell “Red” and the late Wallace Worrell, “Skip”. He was a graduate of East Suffolk High School in Suffolk VA. Charles was drafted into the US Army as a communication specialist in 1970 where he did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He also worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in security for many years. Years later he worked at Remarque Manufacturing as a machinist. He graduated from Norfolk State University in 1997 where he received his Bachelor of Science in Education. Charles was known as one of the youngest Suffolk barbers who started cutting hair at the age of 11. He was a member of the Greater Deep Creek Elks Lodge No. 1040. Charles was also very musically inclined. He played the drums in a local band in Suffolk for many years. His hobbies were photography and keeping a smile on everyone’s face with his wit and humor. Every fourth Sunday he found joy in recording the Praise Dance ministries, Divine Design and Passport to Manhood. He was a role model to all of his grandchildren and was loved dearly by all of his nieces and nephews. At a very early age, he joined Oak Grove Baptist Church in Suffolk Va. where he remained a member until he got married. He then became a devoted member of Divine Baptist Church where he was very passionate about being a part of the men’s Choir and the D.E.L.T.A Force men’s ministry. Charles will truly be missed by his church family. Remaining to cherish so many lovely memories are his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Cecelia Worrell, two beloved daughters, Shelby Worsley (Derrick) and Stacy Barnes (Demond) both of Chesapeake, VA; seven grandchildren, Jalen, Kiarra, Demond Jr., Jordan, Janae, Nyrique and Saniya; one great grandson, Kaden. One brother in law Alton Griffin (Emma) of Chesapeake, VA; four sisters in law, Josephine Worrell of Staten Island, NY and Phyllis Worrell of Warrenton VA, Louise Dixon (Louis) of Silver Spring, MD and Gloria Walker (William) of Chesapeake, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless devoted friends who will miss him dearly.
