Barbara Ellen Steiner

Barbara Ellen (Hilton) Steiner, 57, peacefully transitioned to her Heavenly respite on March 4, 2020 escaping the pain and imprisonment of her earthly body and the progressive destruction of ALS. Born in Norfolk, VA on July 3, 1962, Barbara was a 1980 graduate of Bayside High School in Virginia Beach, and a former member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and St. Nicholas’ Folk Group in her youth. Barbara previously worked at MSP Design and Bay Screen & Graphics. Barbara has been lovingly supported and cared for by her adored daughter, Rebecca Steiner and her love, Carl E. Tarkenton, Jr. And, she’s been cheered and entertained by the sweet and silly antics of her cherished granddaughter, Cassidy Belle Tarkenton. Born to the late Barbara Naaykens and George Hilton, Sr., Barbara also leaves her brothers George (Mimi) and David (Donna) as well as nieces and nephews, Amber, John, Daniel, Dakota, and Chris to treasure her memory as she reunites with her parents, her brother, John, sister, Catherine and niece Amanda in Heaven. Barbara was a free spirit, a throwback flowerchild with a heart filled with joy and a thirst for life. She had a megawatt smile and an infectious laugh, and even as her body failed, she would giggle and grin, sharing in Cassidy’s adventures and delight in the world, and beam with pride for her beautiful daughter. “I am at peace, my soul’s at rest There is no need for tears For with your love I was so blessed For all those many years There is no pain, I suffer not The fear is now all gone Put now these things out of your thoughts In your memory I will live on Remember not my fight for breath Remember not the strife Please do not dwell upon my death But celebrate my life” - Unknown A Celebration of Life will be planned for later in the year when the weather is warmer.
