Sarah D. Graham Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Today we honor the life and legacy of a great Christian woman in Mother Sarah D. Graham. She was born to the late Fred and Perlie Davis on April 28, 1924, in Sturgis, Mississippi. She transitioned to glory on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age and served diligently in ministry her entire life. She started this journey at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church in Sturgis, Mississippi. After marriage she became a member at Morning Star Baptist Church in Laurel, Mississippi. Upon moving she became a member of Rayford Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksdale, Mississippi. I’m 2015 she moved to Chesapeake, Virginia and became a faithful and dedicated member of The New City Church of Virginia, Inc. in Virginia Beach, Virginia until God took her to her heavenly home. Her love for people was evident in everything that she did. She fulfilled the gospel feeding the hungry and housing the homeless, taking in displaced and distressed family members and friends. She also ran an in-home childcare, protecting the innocent. Her wisdom was unparalleled. In her last days, she taught holiness and left many memorable sayings. She lived a long prosperous life because she taught and lived: "treat everybody right no matter what" "If they mistreat you, keep on loving them". She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Elbert Washington Graham; son, Mr. Larry Edward Graham; parents, Fred Davis and Perlie Davis; brothers, Mr. John Davis and Mr. Bradford Davis; sisters, Ms. Hattie davis, Mrs. Mandie Davis Barber, Mrs. Adeline Davis Yarbrough, Mrs. Gertrude Davis Rodgers, Mrs. Edith Davis Hampton, Ms. Annie Davis, Mrs. Pollie Davis Miller, Mrs. Perlie Davis Yarbrough, and Mrs. Alcie Davis Truner. She leaves to cherish her memory, her last living sibling, Mr. Freddie Davis; daughters, Ms. Shirley A. Graham of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Mrs. Rebecca (Dannie) Ducksworth of Chesapeake, VA: one Grandson of Atlanta. Georgia, four Granddaughters of Chesapeake, Virginia; three Great-Granddaughters; one Great Grandson, one Great-Great Grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
