Marvin Smith, Sr.

August 15, 1970 - February 2, 2022

Marvin Eugene Smith, Sr was born on August 15, 1970, to the late James and Shirley Smith in Portsmouth, VA. He transitioned to glory on February 2, 2022, at his home in Williamsburg, VA. Marvin was educated in the Portsmouth Public School system where he graduated from I. C. Norcom High School in 1990. After graduation, he was a dedicated warehouse worker until he found his true calling as a truck driver. He spent 18 years on the road as an owner operator driving over one million miles, meeting and helping other truck drivers. He also discovered a passion for cooking that he loved to share with others. In 1995, he met the love of his life Shelonda Boykins, and they were married October 21, 2000. From this union they were blessed with two wonderful children a daughter Brooke and son Marvin, II. Marvin was predeceased by his parents, his father- and mother-in-law Robert and Georgia Boykins, and sister-in- law Vicky Gough. He is survived by his sister Starlett Chappell (Keith); brothers James (Cecilia) and Anthony Smith; sisters-in-law Deborah (Charles) Carter and Crystal (John) Leonard; brother-in-law Joseph Gough; uncle Melvin Boston (Delores); aunts Wanda and Sylvia Boston and a host of nephews; nieces, cousins, and friends.
