Marie Wilson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On April 2, 2021 Heaven gained a new beautiful Angel, Marie Turner Wilson affectionately known as Flygirl. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. Marie was born on August 16, 1916 to the late Henry Bullock and Ruth Turner Lewis. Marie was joined in marriage to Levi Edgar Wilson, Sr. †. She was a dedicated and loving wife, and mother and had a successful career in retail. From an early age, she was committed and devoted to God. She joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA at age of 10. Some of her many roles in the Church were, President of the United Usher Board, President of the Fellowship Club, Founding member and President of the Widower’s Association, and Officer of the Duplex Social and Savings Club. Marie is survived by her devoted and dedicated daughter, Sandra Wilson Stokely (Darryl), both of whom lovingly served as her caregivers for over a decade, Godchildren, Molly, Brian, Claire and Russ Jones; her son William Newbie † (Nancy) and grandchildren, Cheryl and Reggie Newbie. Special cousins Doretha Johnson, Marjorie Tillett, Lillian Vincent, and ‘like a son’ Craig Vincent, Sr. In addition, she leaves many beloved nieces and nephews, many relatives, friends and caring neighbors.
