Lucille S. Elliott Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lucille Shepherd Elliott, 93, of 1016 White Heron Lane, Suffolk VA gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, February 21, 2021. Mrs. Elliott was born April 6, 1927 in Wilson NC. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Shepherd & Lucille Shepherd Prayer. Mrs Elliott was employed as a domestic worker and later became a transporter & nurse at Portsmouth General Hospital for over 30 years where she retired. Mrs. Elliott accepted Christ as her Lord & Savior at a very early age at Grove Baptist Church. This was the beginning of her passion to serve God and His people. Mother Elliott as she was affectionally known for was a dedicated member of Garden Prayer Temple where she served as a faithful Evangelist, Missionary and Deaconess. In her later years, she joined Faith Diamond Trinity Church where she continued her servant spirit as a Deaconess and she was one of the Mother’s of the Church. Mother Elliott love to sew, travel, read the Word of God, sing and most importantly minister to others. She was married to the love of her life, Vanderbilt Elliott, for 53 years. Out of this loving union, they had six children. Mother Elliott was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and godmother too many. She is predeceased by her husband, Vanderbilt Elliott; sons, Vanderbilt Elliott Jr. & Charles Henry; daughters, Linda Brickhouse & Melody Elam; sister, Leola Wright and brother, Andrew Shepherd. She leaves to cherish her legacy two daughters, Margaret Branch (John) of Suffolk VA & Ann Lewis, Portsmouth VA, Lindsey Elam (Son-in-Law), 7 grandchildren, Jessica Roundtree, Jermaine Taylor (Tracy), Johnathan Branch (Devese), Janene Smith (John), Lucretia Brickhouse, Christy Sattlewhite & Jasmine Elam; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins , friends & church members. Mother Elliott will be remembered for her big hugs, pat on the hand and “God Bless You!”
