May 5, 1927 - February 5, 2022
Hellen Lee Edwards Suiter was born on May 5, 1927 in Northampton County, North Carolina. She was the last surviving child of John and Emma Edwards. Helen grew up spending most of her adult life in North Carolina where she enjoyed a rich fulfilling life. Some of the things Helen most enjoyed were 1) a good home cooked meal which she would prepare herself – she was an excellent cook. One of the things that made her meals “a cut above the rest,” was the awesome dishes she often created using organic vegetables she grew in her garden. In fact, some would jokingly say “Helen could make dirt taste good.” 2) Fishing was another of her passion --- It didn’t matter whether she caught any fish, she just enjoyed going fishing every day. 3) She also loved doing crafts such as flowers arrangements and shared her beautiful flowers with others, as well as sewing quilts, making clothes, and dressing sharp for every occasion. 4) Of all the things she enjoyed, her greatest love was for the field ministry where she spent many enjoyable hours talking to others about her God Jehovah and the future blessings that He is going to bring to this earth. Another enjoyable aspect of her ministry was spending time with a group of sisters with whom she regularly participated in the ministry with – they were affectionately known as “The Golden Girls of Severn.” Even with her failing health, Helen continued to serve Jehovah faithfully and diligently attending meetings on “Zoom” with the help of her niece. The home of Helen and James Suiter was a place where all were welcome to come over for a delicious meal and have a joyful time. Helen will be remembered fondly for preparing and hosting many family gatherings, Sunday dinners, cookouts at the Suiter home, not to mention the many home-cooked meals she prepared and contributed to a variety of functions for friends and acquaintances on various occasions. Helen learned to drive and got her driver’s license at a later age, late 30’s. Having her own car, and being able to drive, enhanced her life greatly. She found great delight being able to drive to the meetings, assemblies, and the conventions. The only thing she didn’t like was to drive over the “water” when driving to Hampton, Virginia. But she did it anyway. Helen was baptized on September 22, 1974, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Helen was a loyal dedicated and faithful servant of Jehovah God to the end of her life. She is now in Jehovah’s memory and will sleep for only a short time. Soon she will hear the voice of Jehovah’s anointed King, Jesus Christ calling her, waking her up from her sleep. What a wonderful time to look forward to! At the age of 87 years old, she left North Carolina and began a journey of traveling and lived in various places. This included Papillion, Nebraska with niece Gloria Cotton (Raymond), Sierra Vista, Arizona with niece Audrey Sexton (Andre) and frequently visiting niece Barbara Thomas (Charles) in Stonecrest, Georgia. On Saturday, February 5, 2022, Helen Suiter departed this life, at the grand age of 94. Helen was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, James Suiter. Helen leaves to cherish many fond memories: one daughter, Cathlene (Molly) Suiter, two sons, David Morris (Eva) and Richard Morris, Sr. (Arlean); 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, spiritual sisters and brothers, and loving friends.
