Edward Lee Thompson

January 11, 1959 - October 2, 2020

On Friday morning, October 2, 2020, Edward Lee “Lee Lee” Thompson at age 61 departed this life into eternal rest and peace. He was born January 11, 1959 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Rev Obadiah Thompson and Ethel Banks Thompson. Lee Lee was the seventh of eight children to be born to Rev and Mrs Thompson. Lee Lee was brought up in the church under the leadership of his father with his siblings where he accepted the Lord. At an early age, he sang in the family choir lead by his mother and began to use his musical gift at an early age. He learned how to play various instruments including the guitar, piano and drums. Lee Lee had aspirations of being part of music and joining musical bands throughout much of his life. He was a happy, fun loving person who made a friend wherever he went. Edward Lee was educated in the Portsmouth School System. He worked various jobs including construction, landscaping and as a short order cook. Lee Lee is survived by his son, Chico Thompson and stepson Kevin Jones of Virginia Beach; seven siblings, Obadiah Thompson Jr (Gloria) of Chesapeake, Elijah Thompson (Tina) of Florida, Sylvester Thompson of Maryland, MaryAnn Collins (Tommy) of Maryland, Janet Thompson (Courtland) of Chesapeake, Barbara Outlaw of Maryland and Steven Thompson (Karen) of Maryland; a former wife, Doris Thompson, of Virginia Beach; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A public viewing will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm., Thursday, Oct 8, 2020 at J.T. Fisher Funeral Services. A graveside memorial service will be conducted on Friday, Oct 9, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Chesapeake. Please adhere to all social distancing guidelines.
