Catherine Dixon, 88, was called home to rest on Thursday, May 20, 2021 in the Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. Catherine was born on July 18,1932 to the late Jessie Jones, Sr., and Sarah B. Jones. She was born in the Churchland section of Portsmouth, VA and made her future home there. She married the late Nelson Dixon. In her lifetime, she held many professions which included seamstress, Maryview Hospital employee, and she retired as a domestic housekeeper. Catherine was deeply rooted in her love of the Lord. She joined the New Beginning Christian Center in Portsmouth, VA and served as a Deaconess. She later joined Grove Church and attended faithfully until she became unable to physically attend. The one thing that you knew about Catherine Dixon is that she loved God, her sons, Kirby and Curtis, her daughters-in-law, Wendy and Toni, and she adored her twin grandsons, Curtis, Jr., and Corey Dixon. She enjoyed family time and babysit many of her family members children. And the highlight of her summers were her trips to Jackson, NC, the birthplace of her father, to attend the Jones Family Reunions. She loved feeding her family and she was known for making her sweet potato pies, cakes, meatloaf, and her collard greens. And if you gave her a call, you'd often catch her watching her favorite TV pastors - T.D. Jakes and Joel Osteen. She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson Dixon, her parents, Jessie and Sarah Jones, Sr., her siblings - Jessie Jones, Jr., Willie Jones, Major Jones, William Jones, Ruth Laurey, Geneva Tolliver, Leslie Sykes, and Mamie Flynn. She leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons - Kirby Dixon (Wendy) of Suffolk, VA and Curtis Dixon, Sr. (Toni) of Portsmouth, VA and her two grandsons - Curtis Dixon, Jr., and Corey Dixon of Portsmouth, VA. Her siblings - Fred Jones of Portsmouth, VA, Perkins Jones of Norfolk, VA, Beulah Aaron of Chesapeake, VA, Janie White (Emanuel) of Virginia Beach, VA and a host of niece, nephews, cousins, and friends. She also leaves a special niece, Marilyn Grant.
