On January 19, 2021, softly and tenderly The Almighty God whispered in the ear of his daughter Brenda Diggs Tynes that it was time for her to come home. Brenda sometimes called "Bren" or "Mrs. Tynes" was born September 19, 1947 to the late Perlie Diggs and Lucy Todd Diggs. Brenda was educated in the Isle of Wight County School system. She was employed by ITT Gwaltney for many years. She was also employed by Isle of Wight County Schools for over 30 years as a bus driver and cafeteria worker where she was affectionally known for her loving and quiet spirit. Brenda also safely transported children from their home to school for many years. At an early age Brenda professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Little Zion Baptist Church. After marriage to George J. Tynes, Sr on September 4, 1965, she became a dedicated member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was active in the Pastor's Aid, Missionary, Senior Choir, and The Mass Choir where she loved to sing God’s praises. One of her favorite songs she soloed was “I Am Looking for My Jesus”. She was also an active member of kitchen/culinary committee. Brenda had a passion for baking for family and friends, going on birthday outings with her siblings, doing word search puzzles, and of course shopping for her beautiful suits and hats. Brenda lives to cherish her loving husband of fifty-five years George J. Tynes Sr., five children, Keith Tynes (Tawana), Calandra T. Smith (Michael), Chantia Tynes, Tracy Grant (Curt), and George J. Tynes, Jr.(Daphne), six grandchildren, Diamond Tynes, Imani Smith, Diamoneke Tynes, Jewel Grant, Azjah Tynes, and Jackson B. Tynes, nine siblings, Willie R. Todd (Alberta),Dorothy Brown (George), Thelma Diggs, Cynthia Diggs, Perlie Diggs, Helen Simpson, Martin Diggs, Laverne Diggs, and Audrey Cram (Richard), sister-in-law, Doris Tynes, sister and brother-in-law Oscar and Emily Ford, and a host of many other relatives and friends. Her Christian life and faith was evident. Her calm spirit will forever remain and be remembered by her many family and friends.
