Alphonso Edwards Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Alphonso Lee Edwards, 59 of Portsmouth VA was born to the late Lubbie Lee and Ruth Lillian Edwards. He was called home to be with the Lord on January 30th 2021. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School where he played sports. He served in the United States Navy as an Aircraft Director. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. Alphonso was married to Sonja Edwards and resides in Houston Texas, where he worked for Southwest Airlines. He leaves to cherish his memory three sons: Alfonza Jones (Kendra) of Virginia Beach VA, DeAngelo Jones (Ebonasia) of Seattle WA, and Alston Riddick of Portsmouth VA; three daughters: LaToya Crayton (Ronald) of Kansas City KS, Natasha Jones of Portsmouth VA and Tameka Edwards of Portsmouth VA; two stepsons Javerick Jones of New York and DeAndre Thomas (Nwakeago) of Newport News VA; and a stepdaughter Asya Lockhart of Atlanta GA. Also left to cherish his memory is six brothers: Glenn Edwards, Larry Edwards, Van Edwards, Ronald Edwards, Charles Edwards and Arthur Edwards; eight sisters: Joyce Hockaday, Tanya Edwards, Gloria Price, Brenda Harris, Sheila Alston, Amelia Edwards, Theresa Pope and Alice Smith; twenty-two grandchildren and a host of family & friends.
