Sylvia Spratt

Chesapeake - Mrs. Sylvia Marie Spratt, of 1200 Sir Galahad Drive passed away peacefully on February 4th 2011. Mrs. Spratt was born March 18, 1940 in Winnfield, LA; the third of ten children born to the union of R. J. Brinson, Sr. and Cora Lee Swafford. Mrs. Spratt was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Velma Alexander; three brothers, R. J. Brinson, Jr., Lester Lee Brinson, and Isaac Lee Brinson; and one half-brother, Chester Brinson. Mrs. Spratt gave her life to the LORD at an early age at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Winnfield, LA. She was an active member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA, where she served on the Deaconess Board and Chairperson of the Food Bank ministry. She was an active member of the Camelot Senior Citizens group where she held the position of financial secretary for numerous years. Mrs. Spratt leaves behind a loving husband; Arvene L. Spratt, Jr., of Chesapeake, VA; a son, Gregory Spratt Sr. (Charlene) of Norfolk, VA; a daughter, Jolande Spratt of Chesapeake, VA; three grandchildren: Gregory Spratt Jr. and Travis Spratt of Suffolk, VA and Sade Spratt of Norfolk, VA. In addition, Mrs. Spratt leaves behind one sister; Thelma Walker of Shreveport, LA; four brothers, Freddie Joe Brinson and Jeffrey Brinson (Joyce) of Shreveport, LA, Ardonul Brinson (Ameriles) of Natchitoches, LA, and James E. Brinson (Sandra) of New Orleans, LA; three half- sisters, Gloria West, Annie Booker (Johnny), and Connie Brinson; one aunt, Eula Mae Hill and two uncles, Marshall Swafford and Artis Swafford; brothers-in-law: Haywood Alexander, Arie Dawson, John Hamilton; sisters-in-law: Lucille Hamilton, Nellie Dawson, Louise Spratt, Francille Williams, Princess Hunter, Donna Brinson, and Lucinda Brinson; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A viewing will be held at J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy, Chesapeake, VA on February 10, 2011 between 6:00PM—8:00PM. A life celebration service, February 11, 2011, will be conducted at 1:00PM at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 1340 Gust Lane, Chesapeake, VA with the Rev. Glen Harden officiating. Interment will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milner’s Road, Suffolk, VA. The family has entrusted J.T.
