Pastor Georgia Butts

Pastor Georgia L. Moore-Butts departed this earthly life and entered into her eternal heavenly home on Saturday, August 27, 2016. Pastor Georgia L. Moore-Butts was the 2nd born of eleven children to Mr. and Mrs. George Lee and Erma Moore Sr. She was born on July 24, 1943 in Elizabeth City, NC. Pastor Georgia L. Moore –Butts accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 11, and was baptized at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church in Elizabeth City, NC. In 1968, Pastor Georgia L. Moore-Butts married the late Clifton Tiberous Butts Sr. They were happily married for 30+ years. Pastor Georgia Moore-Butts graduated from P. W. Moore High School in Elizabeth City, NC in 1961. She attended NC A&T and Norfolk State University with a Master Degree in Math & Economics. In 1996, she pursued her education by receiving a Bachelor of Divinity degree from the Roanoke Theological Seminary in Elizabeth City, NC. In 1993, Pastor Georgia L Moore-Butts founded the Butts Tutoring Service. She tutored Math, Science, English, and Chemistry etc under the Beca Education System. The students grade levels starting from 1st grade to 12th. Pastor Butts was licensed to preach in October 1997, and was ordained to the full work of the Gospel Ministry in June 1998. She became head Pastor of First Corinthians Baptist Church in September 1999. Pastor Butts ministry was established upon Philippians 1:6 which says, “Being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Pastor Georgia Moore-Butts leaves to cherish four children, Lloyd Christopher Moore Sr.(Sacheen) Wagram, NC, Pastor Tonja Y. Fisher(twin), (Lewis) Suffolk, VA, Sonja Y. Butts (Daughter) (twin,) and Rev Clifton T. Butts Jr, Ruther Glen, VA; Seven grand children Christina Vanee Moore, Mom, Yvette Renea Barnslater Portsmouth,VA, Lloyd Christopher Moore Jr, Mom Teresa Moore,Portsmouth, VA, Colin Lorenzo Moore, Arianna Yvette Fisher, Paul Tiberous Fisher, Sariah Faye Fisher and Deborah Faye Fisher all from Suffolk, VA; surviving siblings Deacon George Lee Moore Jr.(Diedra)of Elizabeth City, NC, Mary Jackson,(Bill) of Winton Salem, NC, Rev Dr. Samuel Moore,(Pamela) of Clayton, NC, and a host of nieces and nephews.
