Michael Anthony Coffer

Michael Anthony Coffer was born on July 31, 1964, in Phoenix, Arizona to Mildred Ezetta Coffer and Tommy Gene Coffer, Sr. He departed this life at 59 years old on Saturday, September 23, 2023, in his home in Chesapeake, Virginia. Michael was a 1983 graduate of Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. After graduating high school, he was employed at Gwaltney Meats and then at Mitsubishi in Chesapeake. He met and later married Malikah Sabon Daniels on August 17, 1996. With the promise of new employment, they moved to San Antonio, Texas, and from this union was born, Mekhi Anthony Coffer, Michael’s pride and joy. When his time in Texas came to an end, Michael returned to Chesapeake to be closer to his family. His name was Michael, but he was also known as “Mike Mingles” the DJ, always ready for a good party. Mike, “the Rib King”, his greatest joy came from cooking for family and friends. He was a lover of sports and loved the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James. Michael was an amazing son, father, brother, uncle and friend. He didn’t just leave; He left an awesome legacy and some great memories for a lot of people. Michael was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Reeder and Beatrice Hendrix; paternal grandmother, Mattie Mae Sweat. He leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Mekhi Anthony Coffer; his mother, Mildred Ezetta Coffer; his father, Tommy Gene Coffer, Sr. (Barbara); one brother, Tommy Gene Coffer, Jr. (Andrea); five sisters, Cheryl Coffer Black, Lisa Coffer Green, Robin Anderson (Byron), Tracey Ann Coffer, Tamika Coffer; one stepsister, Cheryl Skinner (Ivan). He leaves five nieces, Brandi Coffer, Ashley Green, Alexis Green, Jasmine Anderson, and Montarai Battle; five nephews, Courtney Coffer (Mia), Eric Black, Jr. (Nina), Corey Coffer, Derek Black, Tommy “TJ” Williams; six great nieces, Sinai Banks, Zoey Coffer, Londyn Coffer, Makayla Black, Tenia Gray, and Kalyia Lofton; two great nephews, Kameron Suggs and Bryson Black. He leaves behind many loving friends he adopted as family, especially his Cedar Grove Family. Left with fond memories is his Very Special friend, Ms. Michelle Jones Bazemore.
