Kimberly R. Britton

Early Monday Morning, January 4, 2021, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Kimberly Renee Britton was called from labor to reward. She was born in Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, VA to Emanuel and Eleanor Cross Britton. Kim accepted Christ at a young age and attended various churches in the area. She received her education through Portsmouth Public Schools going on to graduate from Manor High School in 1985. She earned her Associate of Science Degree in Secretarial Science in 1989 from Norfolk State University. Kim furthered her studies later by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Norfolk State University in 2011. She recently returned to the classroom completing the Degree of Master of Education from Strayer University in 2020. Kim was employed by QVC of Chesapeake for 32 years. She recently completed an internship with the City of Portsmouth Social Services. Kim was a member of the Norfolk State University Alumni Association. She served as secretary of the IC Norcom Band Parent Association from 2003-2006 where she was loved and made lifelong relationships with the students that they referred to her as “Aunt Kim”. She had a very strong love for animals and she spoiled her pets tremendously. She was deeply saddened by the loss of her favorite dogs Pricilla, Goldie and Bolo each time vowing to never get another dog. She also loved cats, Mr. Kitty being one of her favorites. She loved to fish, travel, and socialize with her friends. Kim also loved the Christmas holiday season. The last Facebook post she made on her page was ‘Boyz II Men 2020 Holiday Edition of Let it Snow Video’. She shared it with and a snowflake. Her favorite saying was the use of her name “KIM” as a mnemonic “K” for keep, “I” for It and “M” for moving. Keep It Moving she would say… no matter what, to always remember to K.I.M. keep it Moving and do not let anything or anyone hold you back. Kim loved her family unconditionally and had a close relationship with her mother, brother and a special love for her nephew AJ and his daughter Arria. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Eleanor Cross Britton of Portsmouth, VA, her brother Anthony D. Britton, Sr. of Chesapeake, VA, 2 Aunts Ella V. McCloud of Portsmouth, VA, and Eloise Hall of Albany, GA her nephew Anthony D. Britton, Jr., her great niece Arria Britton, and two sister in laws, Tracy Ned-Brown of Chesapeake, VA and Kimberly Johnson Britton of Windsor, VA , a special friend Ray Sessoms of Portsmouth, VA , 3 lifelong best friends Allison Hunter, Daphne Eaton otheand Sheila Williams and a host of loving cousins and friends in VA, MD, SC, FL, NC, NY, NJ, MI, GA, CA and TX states. Kim was preceded in death by her father Emanuel Britton, sister Phyllis Dyson Jackson, maternal grandparents Henry and Susie Cross, paternal grandparents Oscar and Irene Britton, 5 Aunts Brenda Britton, Corine Britton, Sandra Lambert, Catherine Hamilton, Katie Stokes Durham, 1 uncle Oscar Britton, Jr, a niece baby Kimberly Elizabeth Britton and recently the loss of her “bff” Dedria Bazemore on her birthday.
