Kent Jermaine Jackson

Portsmouth - On Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 9:18 p.m. Kent Jermaine Jackson transitioned from his earthly life to his eternal home. Kent Jermaine Jackson was born on September 18, 1981 in Portsmouth, VA, the first born of Mary Elizabeth Jackson Horton. Kent was educated in the Norfolk Public Schools until his family received military orders to Memphis, Tennessee. They later moved to Iceland where Kent attended A.T. Manning High School. In Iceland he was Starting Point Guard for the varsity basketball championship team and later traveled to England to defend their title. Kent’s dream was to one day play pro ball. His favorite football team was the Dallas cowboys. Kent graduated from King George High School in King George, VA and completed one year of undergraduate studies at Rappahannock Community College. Kent, aka “Kentavious”, was a fun-loving person, but he was also an extremely hard worker. While attending school, Kent was employed by 7-11, Pizza Hut, the base galley and he also assisted his mother with her home daycare. He also worked briefly as a telemarketer. Kent Jermaine Jackson leaves to cherish his memory his loving parents, Troy and Mary Horton of Suffolk; his father, Kent J. Howard; three sisters, Trevor Elizabeth Horton, Erica Nicole Horton and Christina Howard; his grandparents, Gloria Jordan, and Rev(s) Nathaniel and Shirley Jackson; his uncles, Nathaniel Jackson III, Jonathan Jackson, Alvin Smith, Pastor Alexander Howard and Marvin Howard; his aunts, Amanda Jackson, Gloria Coley, Dora Williams, Mary Pearl DeLoatch, Lavern Howard, Katy Pope, Angela Barlow and Brenda Howard; his cousins, Nathaniel IV, Ebony, Kenny, Kendra, Jonathan Jr.; Amanda, Wanda, Denzel and Dontae; a special friend, Jackie Cruz; and a host of other relatives and friends. Kent will be missed, but his warm smile, his giving heart, his calm spirit and his great sense of humor will live in our hearts forever. A life celebration service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Portsmouth City Park Amphitheater located on City Park Avenue in Portsmouth, VA. The burial will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, VA. The family has entrusted J.T. Fisher Funeral Services to handle the final care arrangements.
