Karen Denise McFarland-Hagins

Karen D. McFarland-Hagins was born on July 2nd, 1957 to the late Gertrude Bost-McFarland-Austin and Marion McFarland. Karen is survived by her husband Ronald T. Hagins, Two Sons, Ahmed H. McFarland and Atif K. McFarland (Tiesha), Step Daughter Shakirah Brown, 2 Grandkids Kysheem McFarland and Keyama McFarland, and Two Step Grand Kids Maliah and Dylan Swann. Karen is also survived by her Sister Laura McFarland and Brothers Nathan Boston, Derek Austin, and Benjamin McFarland. Karen was predeceased by her Mother Gertrude Boston-McFarland-Austin, her Father Marion McFarland, Sister Sherry McFarland, and Brother Delmar McFarland as well as her Two Special Nephews, Forice McFarland and Troy McFarland Sr. Karen leaves to cherish her memory, her nieces and nephews Keeyama Mumford (Chris), Shamique McFarland, Tamesha McFarland-Henry (Peter), Aloni McFarland, Ajanae McFarland, Divine McFarland, Tahj McFarland, Cretia Tassin, and Anthony Smith as well as a host of Great Nieces, Nephews and God Kids. Karen, also known as Denise, Ms. Kay or Aunt Niecey, was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1975 and earned her Associates Degree and Graduated Summa Cum Laude From Bryant and Stratton College in 2008. Karen was a Retired Federal Employee from NAVMTO as a Payroll Specialist. Karen started working with kids as a Child Care Assistant before she left her Earthly body and was enjoying nurturing and teaching as they quickly became her babies too. Karen had a very youthful spirit and was the life of the party at any function that she attended. You could find her laughing and joking with old friends and people she just met, as she had a way of making people feel as if they had been friends forever. Even though shebwas a Woodrow Wilson High School Grad you could still find her at I.C Norcom High School Functions, she was quick to tell you that she attended both High Schools and she can go to any class function that she chooses. She was known throughout the 7 Cities in these Bingo Halls, as that was one of her passions, as she had many Bingo buddies that loved her and looked forward to seeing her. Karen also loved her Philadelphia Eagles and could trash talk with the best of them as well as an avid book reader. Karen was kind hearted but would not hesitate to speak up for herself and others. She leaves behind so many friends, classmates, and co-workers who loved her dearly. She will be remembered for being the most outspoken, self assured, most dependable Auntie, Friend, Wife, Godmother, Grandmother, Sister and Mother that anyone could ever ask for. When the word "Diva" was invented, clearly Karen Denise McFarland was the blueprint and definition of the word!!!! She was a one of one and she will be forever loved and missed.
