Jaton Goodman

On November 6, 2020, surrounded by her family, Jaton Lucretia Goodman, 37, peacefully transitioned to be with her heavenly Father. Jaton, born September 26, 1983 in Portsmouth, Virginia was the youngest child of Gladys Deberry Scott and the late Earnest C. Scott, Sr. Jaton was a graduate of Indian River High School, Chesapeake, Virginia. At the age of 18, [aton's passion for working with children, led her to seek employment in the Portsmouth Public School System, where she remained for 18 years. Her desire for more led her to further her education, where she enrolled in Tidewater Community College and received an Associate's degree in Earl Childhood Development. Her determination led her to enroll at Norfolk State ni ersi to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Applied Science. She was proud to "Behold e Green and Gold." Jaton was known for being the life of any party. If Jaton as there, you knew there would be plenty of pictures taken, lots of laughter, and plen of fun. She enjoyed creating and celebrating special occasions and holidays. Family and friends loved her annual Easter Extravaganza and Christmas celebrations with visits from the Easter bunny and Santa Claus. Her love for people and family gave her a reason to celebrate. Known for always being well dressed and looking cute, it was only natural for her to become a Paparazzi Jewelry consultant. Jaton married the love of her life, Terrel Goodman, on October 6, 2007. They fondly referred to each other as "Sweetie." To this union they were blessed with 3 children, Tazja, Jarel and [aniya Goodman.The love she had for her family was immeasurable. Whether it was watching and joining in with Tazja cheering at the games, cheering and screaming for Janiya to shoot that ball, or for Jarel to make that tackle, you knew she was there. She loved being a Mother Trucker and ringing her cowbell. She was her children's biggest fan and everybody knew it. Because of Jaton's love for the Lord and her family, they joined Mt. Herman Baptist Temple and were baptized as a family. Jaton was predeceased by her father, Earnest C Scott, Sr; mother-in-law, Terry Roots; maternal grandparents, James and Eloise Deberry and paternal grandparents, James and Matliane Scott. Jaton leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Terrel Goodman; daughters, Tazja and [aniya Goodman; son, Jarel Goodman; her mother, Gladys Angela Scott; sister Jermeka Cross; brother, Earnest C. Scott, Jr. (Felecia); nieces, Shadarra Vann, Teneyia Scarborough, Jazmine Norman; nephews, Omarion Freeman, O'Darion Smith, Emoni Scott, Earian Scott, Keyonte Scott, Cornell Hankerson; father-in-law, Glenwood Roots; and a special aunt, Eloise Garris, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
