Harrison McDaniel Jr.

Mr. Harrison McDaniel, Jr. transitioned to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at home with his devoted wife Barbara. Harrison also known as "Jr. Mac", "Pop", and "Daddy", was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to many. He loved life, he loved interacting with people and he loved his family. What best describes Harrison is he was comical, energetic; a man of compassion and integrity to all who knew him. He left a lasting imprint in the hearts and minds of his loved ones. He was born on July 25, 1940 in South Hampton County, VA to Harrison Sr. and Wanza. He was the owner and operator of McDaniel Concrete Contracting business for over 40 years. He worked many tireless hours giving and helping others in the community. His work can be seen throughout the Hampton Roads area. During his younger years, he was a member of Club De Porres. Due to his failing health, Harrison sadly retired from his business in 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents; Harrison McDaniel, Sr. and Wanza Ruffin, and Marion Peoples Davis, a special and dear aunt who helped raised him, two sisters; Mary Joseph and Frances Stevenson, one brother, Albania McDaniel, a son, Earl McDaniel, a daughter-Brenda Savage and a grand-daughter, Shontia Tate. Harrison is survived by his faithful wife Barbara Jean, his seven daughters, Ruth Scott (Marvin), Annette Francis (George), Linda Scott, Lori Scott, Bernita Richardson (Keith) of Norristown, PA, Bernice M. Davis (Mychal), Fatima Davis, and a God daughter Crystal Davis. Four sons, Leslie Thorne (Doris), Steven Scott, Antonio McDaniel, and Kerry Britt. Four brothers, Rev. David McDaniel (Peggy), Pastor John McDaniel (Marie) of Hartford, CT, Melvin McDaniel (Shirley), and Robert McDaniel (Linda), two sisters, Pastor Sarah Grant and Evangelist Wanza Snead (Randy), 26 grandchildren, David, Laron, Winter, Shannon, Yvette, Kieyona, Monshawl, Julius (Nikia),Carmelita, Kiashia, Brandi, Martina, Rakeem, Marneisha, Runeda, Markaria, Markia, Myckala, Charity, Keith, Chantal, Xymara, Terry, Leslie and Quanesha; 39 great-grand children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
