Frank Lewis Emilio

Retired Chief Petty Officer Frank Lewis Emilio passed away on February 20, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, surrounded by family. Born on January 27, 1938, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Frank lived a life defined by service, dedication and love for his family and community. A proud veteran of the Vietnam war, Frank honorably served in the United States Navy for over twenty years. During his distinguished naval career, he served abord the USS Hunley as the Ship’s Serviceman. He earned multiple commendations for his superior performance, leadership, and steadfast commitment to duty. Beyond his military service, Frank devoted countless hours to his community. He served as President of Little Creek Pony Baseball and coached youth baseball alongside his beloved wife for many years. Through his leadership, mentorship, and steady presence, he positively influenced generations of young athletes and their families. Frank was predeceased by his cherished wife, Mary Margaret (Thomas) Emilio, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He is survived by his loving sons, Frank R. Emilio (Patricia), and Nathan A. Emilio (Amy). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Kenneth R. Emilio (Marlene); John L. Emilio (Nadia); and Maximilian Emilio. He was also blessed with three great-grandsons, Cooper Emilio, Russell Emilio, and Alexander Emilio. Frank is also survived by his devoted, loving caretaker and companion, Dawn Styron, whose kindness, compassion, and steadfast support brought him comfort and joy. Known for his warm heart, quick smile, and fondness for lottery tickets, Frank embraced life’s simple pleasures and always held onto hope. Above all, he treasured his family and took immense pride in watching them grow and thrive. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the dedicated staff at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital and Bon Secours Hospice by Compassus for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Frank.
