Ernest Waters, Jr.

Our Heavenly Father took our beloved one by the hands at 8:48a.m. on June 26,2017. He died peacefully at home. ERNEST LEONARD WATERS, JR was born on February 12,1927 to the late Clydebelle and the late Ernest L. Waters, Sr., in Bath, NC. He was educated in Bath, NC and Portsmouth, VA Public Schools. Afterwards he joined the US Army and left briefly to serve in World War II. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 42 years. He joined New Bethel Baptist Church during his earlier years. He was also a member of Mt. Gilead - Alpha & Omega Lodge #46 & American Legion Alpha & Omega. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, the late Christine Waters, on May 19, 1951. To this union seven (7) children were born, one twin of (Joycetine) preceded them in death. "Big Dad" "Junior" & "Water Boy" as he was well known as, was loved by everyone he came in contact with. He was always there to give advice whether you needed it or not. He truly loved the Lord, his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family & friends. He always wanted people to be happy with the life God has given them. He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving sister, Evangelist Alberta Gray (Bruce), two daughters, Joycetine Burton (Imn) of Portsmouth and Monica Thomas (Calvin) of Chesapeake; four sons, Ernest L Waters, III (Shirley) of Tazewell, WV, Leonard E. Waters, Sr. of Chesapeake, Keith J & Lorenzo Waters of Portsmouth, VA; ten grandchildren; Clarence Thompson, Jr. Valencia Thompson, Shavika Thompson, Keyon, Kimberly, Lorenzo W., Leonard E. Waters, Jr., Krystal Hankins (David), Erika, Marlos Thomas (Kelle); twenty great- grandchildren, Tyera Thompson, Tateona Springs, Terrance Thompson, Abonie Wright, Shaniqua Spratley, D' Angela Jones, SaiQuan Clark, LaDasha Kelly, DiAngelo Jones, Jr., Davon Kelly, Amaiyah Arrington, MyKaila Eure, Keyona E Waters, A'Miyah Thomas, Morgan Thomas, Samara Hankins, Abbagail Hankins, Kenya Waters, JaMeelah Simmons & Emanuel Hankins & two great-great grandchildren; JuTori Whitehead & Aamir Kendrick; Special Family; the Burton Family, Hilda Moore & Family, Darlene, Kisha, Ronnie, Antwoine Anderson & Family, Patricia Barnes & Family, Barbara Hardy & Family, Shereen Williams & Family, Angelica & Amanda Wesby & Family, Carolyn Riddick Gore & Family, plus a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, & friends & the Cavalier Manor Neighborhood.
