Charles Lee Dixon

Charles L. Dixon Sr. (MCPO) affectionately known as Mr. Dickey or Deacon Dixon received his wings on March 5, 2015. Deacon Dixon was born in New Bern, NC on June 15, 1940 to the late Harvey Dixon Sr and Florida Whitney Dixon. He was a member of the D.S.NAVY for thirty-two years were he retired as a communication system manger. Serving in the Submarine Force D.S. Atlantic Fleet where he received medals and awards such as the National Defense service medal, Navy, Unit commendation with Bronze Star, and countless others for his sacrifices and accomplishments to the Joint Services. He was a righteous and humble man who was dedicated to lead others to the Lord. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for over thirty eight years where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Coordinator for New Members, Men’s Fellowship Committee, Men’s Choir and a Member of First Lady Alfreda Knight Golden Age Club. He was one of the Great PRAYER WARRIORS OF MT CARMEL.He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife, Macey M. Dixon; four daughters, Pamela Petifer (Tyrone) of New Bern NC, Gertha Anthony ( Christopher) Norfolk V.A, Donna (Ryta) Barnes and Debbie Frieson (Herb) of Portsmouth, VA; four sons, Kevin Dixon (Erica) of New Bern NC, Charles Dixon Jr., Dajuan Dixon( Cynthia) and Anthony Yarborough, all of Portsmouth VA; sister, Shirley Armstrong of New Bern, NC; brothers, Harvey Dixon Jr. of Fort Arthur, TX and Daniel Dixon (lnette) of Montgomery, AL. He also leaves two brothers- in- law, Herbert Harris (Gwen) of Roxboro, NC and Ernest Harris(Ruby) of Raleigh, NC; sisters- in- law, Barbara Ferrell of Providence Rhode Island and Alene Perry of Raleigh,NC; thirty grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by sons, Stephon Dixon and Kenneth Yarborough; daughter, Marsha McBride, and brothers, James and William Dixon. Deacon Dixon’s legacy will continue because of the footprints left upon the hearts of those whom he came in contact with which is a legacy of integrity, honesty and his wisdom. It will be passed onto generations to come.He saw the good in man and always went out of his way to help you. He ministered to his family and friends until the end. He will be greatly missed.
