Bertha Boyd

Bertha Mae Boyd was born in Leonardtown, Maryland to Mary Catherine Price and Brent Matthew (deceased). She went to be with her Lord March 3, 2017. She graduated from Great Mills High School in Leonardtown, MD and furthered her education at the University of Southern California. Bertha lived a great life and decided to move to Portsmouth, Virginia 10 years ago. Shortly afterwards she accepted a job as an administrative specialist for the Coast Guard's Fifth District front office. Five years after moving to Portsmouth, she met and fell in love with a striking gent by the name of Daniel Boyd, Sr. and in February, 2010 they were joined in Holy Matrimony. She battled with this horrific disease for 7 years; however her faith and trust in God remained steadfast. She was surrounded by love. For those who knew Bertha knows she was so full of life and she enjoyed her life to the fullest. Bertha loved so many things to include her family and friends. She had a laugh that was so hearty that she would make everyone around her laughed along with her. Bertha was a very sharp dresser - from head to toe. Everything was color coordinated with matching jewelry. If she found something that she liked, she would have to purchase it in every color. Bertha loved to shop and the term 'shop til you drop' definitely described her! Bertha loved music and she loved to dance - boy could she dance! Every Saturday morning you could find her listening to her oldies but goodies on 88.1. Anyone fortunate enough to share a meal with her would get a kick out of watching her eat and making sure that none of her food touched. Sometimes this would require getting several plates for her food. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Daniel Boyd, Sr.; daughters, Tyeiesha D. Hall and Keisha Boyd of Palm City, Florida; sons Tercel D. Berry (Tamisha), Daniel Boyd, Jr. (Diane)and Andre C. Boyd of Chesapeake, VA; mother, Mary Catherine Price; sisters Vanessa Smith (Sam) of Yorktown, VA, and Maria Jefferies (Moses); grandchildren Tazman, Damion and Matthew of Lusby, MD, Kionte, Daniel, III and Kenyona of Suffolk, VA; and Monica and Kyree; nieces Monet Furr (Brian), and Briomni Jeffries; Goddaughter, Britany Nichols and daughter Adriana and a host of other relatives and friends.
