Allie J. Peoples, Jr.

****THE FAMILY HAS REQUESTED THAT MASKS BE WORN FOR THE VISITATION AND THE SERVICE**** On Tuesday evening, January 17, 2023, God called our beloved Dad, “Papa”, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and friend, Allie J. Peoples, Jr. home to his eternal rest. Fondly known as “Partner” or “Al”, Allie was born on June 10, 1929, to the late Allie and Sarah Jones Peoples in Norfolk County (Saint Mount Clare), Virginia. “Al” was predeceased by his wife, Frendessa Baynard Peoples. The ultimate blessing of having a daughter came through a prior union with Velma Petteway, who also predeceased him. Partner, a product of the Norfolk County Schools, enlisted in the United States Army. After faithfully serving our country, Allie began a long career with the Civil Service working for the Navy Yard and later he was employed by the Norfolk Naval Base where he was a Supervisor. Raised in a Christian home, Allie was a long-time member of Grove Baptist Church in the Churchland area of Portsmouth, VA. Allie was also a member of the VFW Post 8545 in Smithfield, VA. Partner absolutely loved family. He relished in being a part of family gatherings reminiscing about the good times he shared. Those that knew him may recall that Partner enjoyed a good laugh and was known to tell a few jokes himself. A favorite past time for Al was traveling. He particularly enjoyed taking trips with family and friends, although his preferred method of transportation would be by car or Greyhound. There were ‘no cloud adventures’ for him! Partner was predeceased by six siblings, Emma Peoples Copeland, Norman Peoples, Sarah Peoples Copeland, Mamie Peoples Taylor, Vernelle Peoples Wilson and Samuel Peoples. He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving daughter, Beverly Campbell of Landover, MD. He leaves two grandsons, Jason Blocker and Andre Campbell, both of Landover, MD. A great granddaughter, Swayze Campbell, also of Landover, MD. Partner is also survived by a sister, Marion L. Sykes and his brother-in-Love, Col. Harry E. Sykes Sr., Ret., both of Bristow, VA. Partner is also survived by his sister-in-Love, Mrs. Esther Peoples of Chesapeake, VA. Partner leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Al also leaves a very special friend, Mrs. Ivery Knight of Suffolk, VA. His extended family includes, DerShawn Saunders of Landover, MD Doreen Pierce of Bryan’s Road, MD, Brianna Pierce and Crystal Pierce, both of Waterbury, CT. Some special men in Al’s life includes, Ray Bailey of Washington, D.C., Donnie LittleJohn of Upper Marlboro, MD, Kenny Black of Greenville, TN, Bob Kennedy of Oxon Hill, MD and Aubrey Hill of North Carolina. Additionally, the family wishes to recognize Mrs. Knight’s family for their support of Al throughout his latter years, Mrs. Dollicia Knight-Boone, Ms. Onika Adams, Ms. Raisa George and Mr. Matthew Boone.
