Adrienne Anita Hardy-Daniels

Our beautiful lady of love and grace has left the room. God has called her to the place He has prepared for her. Adrienne Anita was born to the late William (Bill) and Catherine Coleman on August 8, 1961. She was predeceased by her son Schuyler Omar Hardy. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Dwayne Leon Daniels, daughter Johnay Akia Hardy, brother Jeffrey Coleman (Elizabeth), grandchildren, Zy’Asia, Skyla, Sariya, and Zion, goddaughters Sherri Lamb and Zia Warrick, uncle, James Rudd (Deneise), aunt, Maxine Coleman-Goodman (Leon), godmother Harriette Riddick, special cousins Darlene Turner and Sharon Reese, childhood friend Susan Lee, a special friend Aquichia Brown, and a host of family members and friends. Adrienne accepted Christ at a young age and continued to work with many ministries throughout her life. She was the honorary member of the Angels of Mercy, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Norfolk, VA, as she attended club meeting with her late grandparents Deacon and Deaconess Howard and Roberta Rudd and was affectionately called clubee by the ministry group. She always said the most influential ministry in her life was her time with Gethsemane Community Fellowship Baptist Church in Norfolk, VA, under Pastor Kirk T. Houston, where she flourished and learned how to really work in the ministry. She was a founding member of Fullness of God Ministry in Portsmouth, VA, under Pastor Kenneth C. Clifton. Adrienne continued her ministry even at home amongst family and friends always quoting what the Lord says about the life situations they presented to her. She would always say, “how do I know?” I’ve been there and done that and could usually give you an example. Her favorite scripture was “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Adrienne was the go-to person for many family members, friends, and co-workers. All valued her advice and well researched responses. If she didn’t know, she would say “I’ll find out for you”, research it, and come back with an answer for you. Adrienne attended Booker T. Washington High School, Tidewater Community College, and Old Dominion University. She received a degree in Business Management and a certificate in Project Management. Adrienne was employed with the state of VA for the last 25 years, most recently with the City of Chesapeake, Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare as a Reimbursement Supervisor for the last 9 years. She was a member of the VA Association of Reimbursement Officers (VARO) and a member of the VA Association of Community Service Boards (VACSB) steering committee during her tenure there. Adrienne was a member of the Campostella Heights civic league for over 20 years, and held positions of Vice-President and Treasurer for over 15 years. She also received her accolades from the Southside Task Force for her community contributions. Adrienne was an avid reader, enjoyed gospel and jazz music, loved playing a game of cards, bowling with the Charles Peete League and Monday-Nite Mixed League, bringing life to a room with her interior decorating skills, African art pieces and museums, and traveling with family and friends. Adrienne was known for her practical responses to questions asked of her, after quietly thinking before answering you, her relentless work ethic, her beautiful clothes, that always looked like she stepped out of a magazine; appropriate for any occasion. She was a woman of grace and intelligence. She showed her love and commitment to her husband Dwayne, her son, the late Schuyler, her daughter Johnay, goddaughters Sherri and Zia, and her grandchildren, Zy’Asia, Skyla, Sariya, and Zion. We will miss that strong person in our lives that we could ask anything, and get reasonable advice, and who lit up a room whenever she entered, but we know she feels no more pain, and where her spirit of goodness now resides. We hold her always close in our hearts with a vision of our beautiful lady in our minds!
