Theresa Ann Herring

Gon March 20, 2020, our beloved mother, grandmother, great -grand- mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Theresa Ann Herring, peacefully passed away from her earthly body to enter her heavenly home. Theresa was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia on February 6, 1948, in Douglass Park, to the late Timothy and Eula Herring. Theresa obtained her education from Tidewater Community College, with Honors with an Associate Degree in Electronics. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and beyond measure. February 6,1948 - March 20, 2020 Theresa started her early career at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, Virginia, Electrician Supervisor in Shop 66 for 39 years and retired in 2011. After retiring, her hobbies included gardening, cooking, reading, researching her history and historical events. Theresa also enjoyed the "wonders of nature" by taking walks at the neighborhood park along with her grandchildren. Theresa loved her family. She enjoyed traveling and visiting family members, attending family gathering such as, cookouts, and birthdays. She was the "Crown Jewel and Solid Rock" of her family. Theresa raised several of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren, she was instrumental in supporting school events, recitals and graduations. Theresa also loved her church family, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and served faithfully at Calvary Evangelical Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was faithful in teaching Sunday school, active in the choir, and involved in a host of other activities. Theresa Herring was such a Virtuous Women: Proverbs 31:10-31- "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies, she seek the wool and flax and worketh willingly with her hands, She rise also while it is yet night, and giveth mean to her house hold, she stretch out her hand to the poor, she reach forth her hands to the needy, she open her mouth with wisdom and in her tongue is the law of kindness, Her children arise up and call her blessed, favor is deceitful and beauty is van, but a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gates." Theresa was proceeded in death by her mother Eula Herring, her father and two sisters, Nina Short, and Maxine Herring. Her memories will forever be cherished by her devoted children, Terry Herring (Chesapeake, VA) Lornetta Tucker (Chesapeake, VA), Carlton Smith (Newport News, VA), two brothers, Time Herring (Cynita) of Farmville, VA and Jeffery Herring (Chesterfield, VA) one sister Cynthia Carr (Gary) Chesapeake, VA., and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
