Robert Roosevelt Ricks Jr.

Mr. Robert Roosevelt Ricks Jr. who was granted an abundant life by God began his journey on January 3rd., 1954. Robert also known as “Boosie” was born in Nansemond County, Virginia to the late Robert Roosevelt Ricks Sr. and Dorothy Holloman Ricks. Robert received an early education by attending Suffolk Public Schools. Robert was next to the oldest in the family of nine siblings, six boys and three girls. He was athletic and really enjoyed playing sports with his brothers. Believe it or not, throughout his teenage years, Robert and his brother Michael was into soulful music and they joined a local band in Suffolk called the Stone Love Band. Michael played the trumpet and Robert was the MC. In 1972, Robert graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. After high school, Robert could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. He was fearless and brave and decided to enlist into the United States Army where he served his country for about eight years. Robert traveled all across the world working hard and spent several years in Germany. He loved to travel. Robert earned several medals of honor and was honorably discharged. In the early 1980s, he got married. With this union, Robert was blessed by God with his one and only daughter, Amanda LaTrice Ricks. He loved his family. He loved to work hard. He was employed at QVC for several years. He loved to eat and be merry. He loved his church. But most importantly, he LOVED GOD. He was a praying man. He volunteered at his church, United Full Gospel Revival Center and was a faithful and devoted member. Treasuring Robert’s memories are: his daughter, Amanda L. Ricks and his grandson, Christian Elijah Walker, his three sisters, Elizabeth Riddick, Constance Ricks and Virginia Ricks, his four brothers Michael Ricks, Alfred (Buster) Ricks, Kelvin Ricks and Nathaniel Ricks, his step-mother, Martha Ricks and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends and his church family and a special THANK YOU to Robert’s closest friends Elder Shannon, Deacon Robinson and Mr. Bee. Robert was preceded in death by his father, mother and oldest brother Leon Wooden.
