A Time to be Born... Rev. Dr Florine S. Murphy was born to Deacon Clarence Sr. and Deaconess Sadie Winfield Smith in Portsmouth, VA on February 9, 1953. She was the eleventh of fourteen children. Her siblings are Merlin, William, Arthur, Ruby, Flossie, Charles, Odessa, Clarence Jr., Marion, Albert, Alton, Curtis, and Earline Smith. She held many communal offices: PTA President, Fairfax Election Officer, Fairfax community Chaplains Corps., and Church Administration, Prayer/Evangelism Ministry, Family Life Matters Minister, Christian Education, Small Groups, Marriage Counseling and Advising. A Time to Work... Rev. Dr Florine S. Murphy built an illustrious career as an Acquisition/Logistics/ Program Management Professional, with forty combined years of extensive variety of expertise in U.S. Air Force Command Combat Support, U.S. Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, U.S. Army Logistics and Supply Chain. After her 2006 Retirement, she became an Associate Minister at Alfred Street Baptist Church, Alexandria, VA, founder and installed Pastor of New Jerusalem Temple of Worship Church, Alexandria, VA, and Director of Small Group Community Family Ministry at New Life Anointed International Ministries, Woodbridge, VA. Dr. Murphy also served as President and Chief Executive Officer “From Crib to College Community Development Corporation”, a charitable service organization which systematically addressed the reduction and ultimately the eradication of intergenerational adolescent pregnancy and parenting cycle. A Time to Serve God... Rev. Dr Florine S. Murphy was licensed and ordained as an evangelist at Shiloh Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA. Rev. Dr Murphy was ordained as a minister by Bishop Reeves. Her ministerial platform was based on spiritual growth, academic empowerment, community service, outreach, and cultural awareness. God gifted Dr. Murphy to preach and teach with the voice of a prophetess, yet she loved with the compassion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A Time to Honor and Cherish... Rev. Dr. Florine S. Murphy leaves to honor and cherish her memories a devoted and committed husband Andrew and two young men of strong character, compassionate, loving and devoted sons, Jamah, and Ryan (Leah); siblings: William (Flora) Smith, Ruby Fields; Marion, Albert, Alton and Curtis (Rita)Smith; Sister-in-law: Laura (Odell) McCants and Dorthy (Vincent) McKenzie, Brother-in-Laws: Roland, Jerome, and Joe Murphy, a host of nephews and nieces: James (Deanna) Smith, Voncia (George) Smith, Lenora (Glenn) Griffin, Terri MiKell, Lynetta (Anthony) Hines, Katrina Smith, Rosalyn9 Smith, Andrieka Brown, Tandrieka (Kenneth) Tolbert, Amber Mason, Tonya (Darrell) Gray, Andre (Amanda) Smith and Rhonda (Jerry) Coles. A beloved host of cousins, other relatives and dear friends. Rev. Dr. Murphy was preceded in death by her parents: Clarence Sr. and Sadie Smith; brothers: Merlin, Arthur, Charles and Clarence Smith Jr.; sisters: Earline, Odessa Smith, Flossie Hines; niece, Shelia Stewart and nephew Arthur Smith.
