Peggy A. Prayer

Peggy Ann Prayer (Pocketbook) age 74 born to the late Willie Arthur Jackson and Julia Best Jackson. She was born in Wayne County, North Carolina on May 12, 1946. Peggy transitioned to her resting place in the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 in Chesapeake, Virginia surrounded by her loved ones. Peggy graduated from I.C. Norcom High School, June 11, 1964 in Portsmouth, Virginia and briefly relocated to Connecticut. Upon returning to Portsmouth, Virginia, she married the late Edward (Dooley) Prayer, Jr. To this union they were blessed with two beautiful daughters – Terri Lynne and Toya Latrice. Peggy was a very hard worker. She worked as a Supply Technician at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for many years. She knew the grace of God and the deliverance from illness that He provided to her on several different occasions. This deliverance was His ultimate. Peggy accepted Jesus Christ into her life as a young girl and we affirmed that acceptance of Jesus as her Savior before her passing. She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church even though her illness prevented her from participating in regular fellowship. Peggy loved shopping and also loved to dress her girls and baby sister Marion. Back to school at the house was always like being at a department store and Christmas was like being in the toy section of a major store. Her love not only stopped at shopping. She loved people and people loved her for her beautiful, giving spirit and humble way. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Arthur Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Julia Best Jackson of Chesapeake, Virginia. Daughters Terri and Toya of Maryland. Grandchildren Tiara (Angelo), TeKuay (Brian) and Terran (Ashlee) also of Maryland along with Great Grandchildren. Sisters – Ethelyn (Janet) Harris and Amy Tolbert of Chesapeake, Virginia. Vanessa (Doll) Person (Earl) of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Marion Mason (Phillip) of Portsmouth, Virginia and Brothers – Carlston (Liz) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Arthur of Hampton, Virginia and Don (Pat) of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
