Lillian Warren

On Monday, May 18,2020, at Wonder City Nursing Home in Hopewell, Va., our beloved Lillian Carraway Warren surrendered her weak and worn earthly tent in exchange for the resurrected body that God promised to all Believers. Lillian, a native of Norfolk, Virginia was born to the union of Richard, Jr. and Geraldine Hines on October 1,1958. She was subsequently nurtured and raised in the loving home of her great-aunt, Mrs. Flossie Wilson who not only ensured that all of her needs were provided, but "spoiled" her with many of the finer things in life that she "wanted". Lillian was educated in the public school system of Portsmouth, Virginia and her work history includes employment in several areas. At the time of her transition, she had been employed at the Smithfield Packing Company in Smithfield, Va. until 2019, when her illness precluded her ability to perform. Lillian's marriage to William "Button" Carraway produced three children; Sheiru, Yoshia, and Geneva. Lillian was a member of Sandy Mount Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia and always expressed her faith and gratitude with the statement, "I am blessed by the Best". She will be lovingly remembered as a vibrant person with a bubbly personality who, like her mother, loved to dance and could do so very well; and, if you greeted her with the word "Hey", she would always respond by saying "Hey (Hay) is for horses". In addition to her parents and her great-aunt, Lillian was predeceased by her twin, William Hines and her brother, John Hines. She leaves to remember with love: her husband, Sudard L. Warren of Smithfield Va.; son, Sheiru M. Carraway; daughters, Yoshia and Geneva Carraway, all of Portsmouth, Va.; thirteen grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Diggs Etheridge of Norfolk, Va. and Linda Hines Gore (De Juan) of Lusby, Md.; two brothers, Johnny Hines (Kathy) of Pennsylvania, and James Ricks of Franklin, Va.; Step-mother, Mrs. Juanita Hines; and Step-children, Marcus L. Warren, Trevius S. Warren, and Rojawn L. Warren, all of Smithfield, Va. Special friends, Vanessa Edwards and Iola Townsend of Portsmouth, Va. and Mrs. Liz Thomas of Smithfield, Va. will also cherish fond memories of their time with Lillian.
