Kenneth “Kenny” Maurice Scales, a man of God, a gentle giant, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished friend, passed away on August 26, 2023, at the age of 64. He was born on April 24, 1959 in Norfolk, VA. Kenny was a man of unwavering dedication, committing himself wholeheartedly to every aspect of his life. He shared 46 wonderful years of marriage with his dearest, darling wife, Alethia “Ann” Scales. Their enduring bond and profound connection were a testament to the power of true love, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, devotion, and cherished memories. Professionally, Kenny excelled in his roles. He spent 40 years at Norfolk Wholesale Florist, where he worked as an Assistant Manager. Later, he brought his talents to The Franklin Johnston Group, proudly serving as an Executive Assistant for 7 years. His expertise and commitment were evident in the relationships he built and the impact he made. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Kenny’s passions illuminated his vibrant personality. He had an insatiable curiosity for electronics and videography, using his skills to capture the beauty of life around him. He embraced each moment with enthusiasm, especially when spent with his cherished family and friends. Kenny’s legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Alethia “Ann” Scales, and their children: Keyonna Sidqui, Aletta “Lea-Lea” Scales, Kennetta “Shay” (Torey) Boone, and Angel Scales. He is also survived by his son, Kenneth “Jerome” Smith, his sister Lorraine “Sister” (Willie) Lyons, his brother, Monte (Lora) Scales and his grandchildren, Akeliah, Kristen “Ivory”, Kaiden, Danielle, and Khloe. He nurtured a family grounded in love, empathy, and unity. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Scales, his brother, Ricky Scales, and his grandson, Jaylin Scales. A man of deep faith with a heart of gold, Kenny's life was a testament to his patience, kindness, and boundless love. He went out of his way to lend a helping hand and bring joy to those around him. As we remember Kenny, let us celebrate his remarkable journey, his unyielding love, and the countless lives he touched.
