Donald L. Jenkins

DONALD LEE JENKINS was born on January 15, 1959 in Suffolk, Virginia to Amos and Ruth Jenkins (predeceased). He departed this earthly life on April 14, 2018 at the age of 59 years. Donald affectionately referred to as Don Lee, Big D, Pops, Papa, Heavy D or Uncle Don graduated from I. C. Norcum High School where he exemplified great athletic abilities in football, basketball and wrestling. However, he shone brightly as a football star as the first freshman to play on the varsity team as a linebacker number 44. Don Lee was proud to be a greyhound, and he supported the school wholeheartedly. Don worked at GE for several years, but retired from Marine Hydraulics International (MHI) as a facility supervisor for over 25 years. When he was not supporting a sports event, Don could be found participating in his favorite hobby, fishing. He loved to fish from a boat, pier or anywhere. Don was one with a friendly disposition; he was known to be a great storyteller. Whether the stories were true or a fish tale, he was bound to get a laugh from his audience. When Don met Angela and the two became one, they were inseparable traveling across the country enjoying life to the fullest until his health got the best of him. The trials of his health still did not keep him down. Don Lee played games with the family on game nights and kept everyone in stitches. When he could no longer go to the games at Norcum, he would sit on the porch and listen to them. He will always be a number one Greyhound. Don was predeceased by his brothers, Jerome and Rylent. Donald will be lovingly remembered by his wife Angela Annette Jenkins and his children, LaTonya Jenkins, Latoyia Goodley, Donald “Don Don” Jenkins, Jr., LaDonte Wilder (Amanda), DeAndre Wilder (Aleeia) and DeAngelo Wilder, sister, Ruth Anna Jenkins, brothers Jeremiah “Junie” Roundtree (Harriett), Kenny Jenkins, sister-in-laws, Kimblyn Clanton Moore and Vernice Crocker (Howard); grandchildren, Jasmine, Amore, Ezara, A’Andrea and DeAndre “DJ”; a loving nephew, Melvin Page (Traci) and a host of nieces, family and friends especially the I. C. Norcum Alumni.
