Chanda Danita Grant

Chanda D. Grant was born February 24, 1972 to the late Evelyn and George Taylor. She was given her heavenly wings on November 21, 2015. At an early age Chanda joined Celestial Baptist Church and accepted the Lord as her Savior. In her adult years she joined Grove Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her health failed. She was active in the Women's Ministry and the Singles Ministry. Chanda was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1991. Chanda had a passion for helping people which inspired her to attend Eastern Virginia Medical School where she obtained her Medical Administrative Assistant Certificate. She also obtained her Medical Coding Certificate from Riverside. She was employed by Riverside Medical Center for 15 years, 13 years with diabetes services, and two years with PACE. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and her favorite store was J.C. Penney. Chanda loved to shop!!!! She was an avid Eagles fan and a great line dancer!!! Anyone who knew Chanda knew her godchildren were definitely the center of her heart, and she was very friend and family oriented. In short, her friends and family would describe her as a giver and a faithful servant of God. In addition to her parents, Chanda was preceded in death by her nephew, Javon Johnson and godmother Harriette Brown. She leaves to cherish her sweet memories, one brother, Kenneth E. Taylor Sr. of Portsmouth, VA; stepmother, Lauriel "Denise" Makepeace of Delray Beach, FL; adoptive mother, Ethelene Woodson of Portsmouth, VA; adoptive father, David Woodson of Portsmouth VA; sisters, Robin Johnson (Kim) of Williamsburg, VA, Barbara Drew of Portsmouth, VA, Lisa Dyer (Jason) of Portsmouth, VA, and Ebony Woodson of Newport News, VA; a special aunt and uncle, Aunt Stella and Uncle Will of Philadelphia; nine godchildren - Shavon Dial, Rachelle' Timpson, Rena' Timpson, Jaylisa Dyer, Jaidyn Walker, Quinton Shackleford, Brandon Shackleford, Ryan Timpson, and Simone Henderson. Nephews, Kenneth J. Eley, Kenneth E. Taylor Jr., Jason Dyer Jr., and Jamar Faulks; nieces, Kendra Davis, Felicia Isaac, and Alexus Drew; special cousins, Kisha and Tonya Ellis; special friends, Twana Glover, Melodie King, Elide Sterling, Valarie Franklin, Stephanie Shackleford, Latica O'Bannon, Claire Martinez, Alicia Boy; and a host of other relatives and friends.
