Adell Everlean Eaton

On Monday, January 09, 2023, Adell Everlean Eaton, 85, our beloved Mama, grandma, mother-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend departed this life and went home to eternal life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Adell Everlean Eaton, was born on October 27, 1937, to the late Otis and Rachel Barnes- Eaton in Portsmouth, VA. She was affectionately known as Everlean. Born into a family that stressed the importance of education and participation in church, Everlean graduated from I.C. Norcom High School Class of 1956. She attended the family church home of St. Mark Baptist Church and was baptized August 1962 at the age of 25. She later became a member of New Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA. in 1975 and a long standing and active member in 1999. Everlean went on to earn her Nursing Assistant credentials from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Portsmouth Nurse’s Registry in 1979. She attended Tidewater Community College and subsequently Barclay Career school, Portsmouth, VA. where she received her Medical Assisting Diploma and National Registered Medical Assistant (NRMA) Certificate of Registration in 1993 as well as a(n) Electrocardiograph Technician certificate in 1992. She received numerous training certificates in 2000 from Portsmouth Social Services for Raising Foster Children and actively participated in The City of Portsmouth Senior Activities. She attended Portsmouth Empowerment Basic Computer Education Program at the age of 70 and was a member of the Red Hat Society, Portsmouth Virginia (“Gone Girl” as only Mom could say!). Everlean leaves to cherish her memory, Four daughters: Eunice Staton (Marvin) Chesapeake, VA., Theresa Rivers (Christopher), Villa Rica, GA., Rachel Colyone (Mark), Baltimore, MD., Angela Wilson, Anchorage, AL. Four Sons: Ret. (Marines) Sgt. Eddie Williams III, of Washington, DC., Ret. (Army) SSG Victor L. Williams (Elaine) of Belen, NM, Ret. (Army) 1SG Curtis M. Williams (Rita) of Browns Mills, NJ., Christopher Williams, Anchorage, AL. Eight Grandchildren: Ret. (Army) SFC LaTarnya Whitmire, Crystal Staton, Troy Williams (Sherrie), Victor Williams Jr., Lathesia Williams, Reyel Mendoza (Juan), Curtis Williams Jr. (Brittni), Angela Wilson, II. Three grandchildren she raised as her own: Christine Savage-Williams, Travanti Williams, and Christopher Savage. Twenty-five great grandchildren: Ki’Aunjanae Whitmire, Zora Jordan, Jamir Perry, Trent Williams, Destiny Williams, Shile Williams, Shawnassy Aranda, Demetrius Williams, Joshua White Jr., Desiree Williams, Dejah Williams, Desmone’ Williams, Bayod Williams, Jade Williams, A’jane’e Wilson, Hazakiah Wilson, Jerico Mendoza, Jeriel Mendoza, Juancho Mendoza, Reyes Mendoza, Jeslyn Mendoza, Judah Mendoza, Reylin Mendoza, Julian Williams, and Adrian Williams One Great-great grandchild: E’lajah Williams Everlean was predeceased by two sisters and brothers-in-law’s: Gertrude “Gert” Copeland (Roland) of “Gilmerton” Chesapeake VA and Mable Blow (Lincoln) of Capron, VA. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of other in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
