Chesapeake-Louis Carter, 79, of the 3000 block of Gauntlet Court was called home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2010. He was born in Canton, Mississippi on April 10, 1931. Louis was retired from the United States Coast Guard after 21 years of service. He also worked as a self employed chef. Louis was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Chesapeake.
Louis leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Hattie Carter; five daughters; Celesta Saunders (Vernon), Brenda Manley, Wanda Horace (Timothy), Babylon Carter and Angela Carter; four sons; Louis Carter, Jr., Freddie Carter, Larry Carter (Rochelle) and David Carter. Also left to cherish his memories are four sisters; Marie, Bernice (deceased), Myrdis and Ruth; a brother; Leo Carter; twenty seven grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
