Chesapeake - James Westray, Jr., 85, of the 2600 block of Cedar Road, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 7, 2010. He was born in Nash County, North Carolina. James was the founder and owner of Westray Construction Company. He was a member of Divine Baptist Church and a World War II Veteran.
James leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Jean Faulk Westray, two sons; Jay F. Westray (Marquita) of Suffolk, VA and James H. Westray, III, of Switzerland;.a sister, Otelia Pendergast of Washington, DC; four grandchildren, Aurelia Westray, Elsa Westray, Jay F. Westray, II and Morgan D. Westray.; two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held from 4 pm until 7 pm on Saturday, July 10 at J. T Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Divine Baptist Church, 2917 Old Galberry Road, Chesapeake with Pastor Tommy P. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the family cemetery. The family has entrusted J. T. Fisher Funeral Services to handle the final care arrangements.
