Portsmouth-Eva Green Mary Parker was born on April 3, 1924 and was one of four daughters of the late Buddy and Addie Hairston in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She went to glory on Monday, July 5, 2010. Eva was retired from the Maryland Board of Education after being employed there for many years.
Eva (Mary) met and married the late Lemuel Parker. Mrs. Parker dedicated her life to Christ at a very early age in life. She has fellowshipped in many churches in the North Carolina and Maryland areas before moving to Virginia where she joined Temple of Christ Church of Portsmouth under the leadership of the late Joseph Scott. There she served as a missionary and one of the church mothers. Later God called her to New Hope Baptist Church where she enjoyed attending and fellowshipping with her brothers and sisters.
Eva is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Martin of Roanoke, Virginia; a son in law, Willie Beale, Sr. of Portsmouth, Virginia; five grandchildren; Willis Coppedge, Avis Saunders both of Chesapeake, Virginia; Willie Beale, Jr., Joann Felton and Lemuel Beale all of Portsmouth, Virginia; sixteen great grandchildren and fourteen great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by a special grand son in law, Nate and a host of other relatives and friends. Eva was predeceased by her only and precious daughter, Joan Marie Beale; two sisters; Pauline and Vera; a great grandson, Antonio (Lil Duke) Young and a great, great grandson, Kareen Coppedge.
The family will assemble at 12:00 noon at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services the day of the life celebration service.
