Portsmouth - Costina M. Hunter, 72, of the first block of Dekalb Avenue, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 23, 2010. Costina was born in Nashville, North Carolina to Leacy Mills Archie and Zollie Mills. She was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 20 years of service as a shipfitter. She also worked as a nurse at Maryview Medical Center. Costina was a graduate of I. C. Norcom High School.
Costina was predeceased by her brothers Pernell Mills and Otis Mills. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sheila T. Chong and Angela F. Moody; her son, Frederick A. Moody; three brothers, Johnny O. Mills, Morris Lee Archie and Donald Frederick Archie; six grandchildren, Tiffany L. Chong, Anthony A. Chong, Cameron J. Barnes, Costina C. Moody, Candace J. J. Moody and Emanuel A. Chong; a great-grandchild, Joshua A. Sinclair-Chong; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A life celebration service will be held on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 1:00pm at New Testament Church, 403 Rapidan Street, Portsmouth. A viewing will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm.
