Portsmouth-John Wallace Blount, 57, also known as Johnny, of the 900 block of Mineo Lane, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Maryview Hospital. Johnny was born in Edenton, NC. He was retired from the United States Navy in 1997 with 22 years of service. Johnny was employed as a driver with Tranquest.
Johnny leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Patricia A. Blount; three daughters. Vanessa A. Cobb, Glenda Clay, and Keisha Stubbs; and three sons, Alexis Perry, Robert Johnson, and John Blount, Jr. Also left to cherish his memories are three sisters, four brothers, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 4 pm until 7 pm at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Holy Temple Apostolic COGIC, Windsor, NC with Bishop Calvin Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, NC. The family has entrusted J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake and Blair Funeral Service, 141 E. Carteret Street, Edenton, NC to handle the final care arrangements.
