Kansas City, KS – Jeanette M. Lewis, 66, died May 5, 2010 at a local hospital in Kansas City, KS. She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and a daughter of the late Mary P. Hines and Johnnie Obbie. She graduated from I. C. Norcom High School and spent a brief time as a Medic in the U. S. Army. She was a faithful member of Twine Memorial Holy Temple, previously named Union Holiness Church No. 2, until she moved to Kansas. While in Kansas she worked as a Nurses’ Aide and Accountant. She was also a member of Zion Travelers Baptist Church, Kansas City, KS where she was appointed as a mother of the church in 2008. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 45 years, Nathaniel I. Lewis of Kansas City, KS; two sons who preceded her in death, Mr. Anthony Lewis and Mr. Reginald Lewis, Sr.; one surviving son, Carlton E. Lewis of Kansas City, KS; one brother, Mr. David Potts of Chesapeake, VA; three sisters, Ms. Linda Potts and Mrs. Cheryle Parker of Portsmouth, VA and Evangelist Garlena L. Hines of Chesapeake, VA; one uncle, Mr. Arthur M. Potts (Doris) of Portland, OR; two daughters-in-law, Ms. Cheryl Lewis of Kansas City, KS and Ms. Leslie Lewis of Philadelphia, PA; seven grandchildren, Ms. Maya Lewis, Ms. Meiko Lewis, Ms. Carlisa Lewis and Mr. Carlton Lewis, Jr. of Kansas City, KS and Mr. Reginald Lewis, Mr. James I. Lewis and Mr. Stephen Lewis of Philadelphia, PA; a host of great-grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and friends. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 6:00-8:00pm at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake, VA.
