Portsmouth-Eric Octavious “Turtle” Harris, 23, of the 3800 block of Sugar Creek Circle departed this life on Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Jarrett, VA. He attended I. C. Norcom High School and also played football for Cavalier Manor.
Eric leaves to cherish his memory; his mother, Lolitia Harris; father, Ernest Grant, Sr. (Renee); daughter, Niema Naiqua Cassell-Harris; two sisters, Kasandra Harris and Frances Grant; four brothers, DeAndre’ Lamb, John Rutledge, Jalen McEachin and Ernest Grant, Jr. all of Portsmouth. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandparents; Rosa L. Harris, Sandra and Ernest Smith; aunts, Yolanda Harris, Grace Cribbs, Jackie Elliott, Patricia Cuthrell and Trina Grant; uncles, Robert Harris, Wendell Harris, Wilbert Harris, William Grant and Harvey Grant.. Eric will be missed also by his nieces, cousins, friends and especially his companion, Tomacy Cassell. He will be truly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2010 from 4 pm until 7 pm at
J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held 11am on Friday, February 26, 2010 at New First Baptist Church Crestwood, 4701 Bainbridge Blvd, Chesapeake with Bishop Anthony B. Rodgers, Sr. officiating. Interment will be at Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk.
