Portsmouth – Nellie Mae “Shorty” Lewis, 70, of the 3700 block of High Street, passed away on December 25, 2009. A native of Emporia, VA, she was born to the late Benjamin H. McFarland and Nellie Grey Wilkins. Ms. Lewis was a faithful member of Holy Light Church of Deliverance.
Left to cherish her memories are four sisters, Essie G. Cooper, Sallie E. Elliott, Mary M. Gray and Ethel E. Allen; a special nephew, A. Jay Nolen, Jr. and a host of other family members.
Viewing will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. The life celebration service will begin at 11 am on January 4, 2009 at the funeral home with Bishop Samuel L. Carruth, officiating. The family has entrusted J. T. Fisher Funeral Services to handle the final care arrangements.
